BUSM061 Contemporary Issues in Accounting
This module introduces students to some of the key developments and issues in accounting currently discussed by policy makers, the profession, the media and academics. It exposes students to a selection of contemporary developments/issues in accounting, and enable them to develop an awareness of how these issues relate to underlying accounting theory. It attempts to provide rationales for these developments/issues and to enhance students’ understanding of the way in which accounting is implicated in wider policy debates. It highlights the actual and potential impact of these developments/issues on society at large. Further, the module attempts to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to critically evaluate these current developments/issues in accounting and encourages students to develop ideas for research in accounting.
